The Lady Buddha statue is a 67 meter tall monument of the Goddess of Mercy (Quan Âm). Locals believe the Lady Buddha protects Da Nang from storms and blesses fishermen with safety and good fortune at sea. For the local fishing community, she represents hope and divine protection. Many also connect the city’s positive growth, from new bridges over the Han River to the opening of a new hospital, with the Lady Buddha’s benevolent presence.
