Took the legendary Shinkansen bullet train from Tokyo to Kyoto. It’s a smooth, fast, (peak speed of 290 kmph) and comfortable experience. Booking a window seat on the right side (in direction of Kyoto) gives you a chance to catch clear and long glimpses of Mount Fuji. Arrive early to navigate the large Tokyo station and be sure to pick a prepacked meal from any of the food shops.
