Mount Umunhum
San Jose , USA
📍Attraction

Vinit Parab's note
Less than an hour’s drive from San Jose, Mt Umunhum is a superb hike / drive. The summit hosted the Almaden Air Force Station from 1957 to 1980, part of a Cold War-era radar network. The iconic huge concrete “Cube” (84.5 feet) once housed the AN/FPS-24 radar, used to detect hostile aircraft. Mt Umunhum, (3,489ft), is a historic and culturally significant peak. it offers panoramic views of Silicon Valley + hiking trails. The site holds ongoing spiritual importance for the Mah Mitsun tribe.
